Happy Thanksgiving to everyone reading today. And also happy Saturn Direct (as Saturn officially begins his forward movement today).

Holidays are always interesting now aren’t they? There is the tradition and family ties. We feel these come fully online, or fully to the fore, and we can feel their great qualities and their not so great qualities. Perhaps many of us are celebrating with a new kind of family, or many who grew up celebrating may choose not to celebrate at all.

When we look at the history of these holidays we find that the true history was not so cheery, or not cheery at all. That’s not to detract from the genuine sense of cheer that celebrators have, as any holiday is a way to connect and bring magic into the world. But it’s definitely to say that we’re in a time of reappraisal and reinvention. Of finding what traditions are true and what we need to let go of or transform.

So all of this is with us on a day like today.

All I can say is: enjoy the moment, and at the same time, embrace the change. Trust yourself and find the balance between speaking your truth and trusting in the unspoken…

This life is always an art and it’s always unknown. Astrology teaches that there is always structure to the events and stages of life, that time moves in cycles. And yet, it is always new too isn’t it? It’s always in the process of creation, and we are an active, living, breathing, choosing, aware, reflective, and responsive part of this creation.

Every day we’re breathing a new world into creation, and every day we find ourselves in the very same world. Every day we’re connecting and every day we’re isolating.

Every day we experience love, and every day we experience pain. Every day we’re grateful—especially if we make an effort to be grateful—and every day we say “Oh not this again.”

Every day some part of our life may burn to ashes, and every day we have an opportunity to rise back up.

Every day we have an opportunity to eat, drink, and be merry (I hope!) and every day we have an opportunity to be existential, as I seem to be in writing this post…

I guess what I am trying to say is that holidays place us right at the junction, the magical and often painful friction point, between the new and the old. I hope that we can all find some peace, some solace, and some gratitude at this junction.

I hope also that we can find some space to breathe and that we can maintain some healthy boundaries, especially as we’re interacting with family members. Healthy boundaries are not what anyone else can tell you is healthy; it’s only what we can determine for ourself at this time.

There’s no right or wrong, just learning, experimenting, growing. Allow yourself to be free today, whatever that looks like for you. And, just to add one more piece of Saturn advice to the mix as Saturn adjusts today, maybe hold back on that last slice of pie…

Happy holiday! Enjoy the festivities, however big or small, or even if you have to be your own festivity. If things are not good, there’s always next year!

Last but not least, thank you to all the animal kin and plant kin, and to all the people who make it possible to have this feast. Thank you to our Earth Mother for providing. May we strive towards greater harmony and greater health on this planet. 🙏🦃
