If you are like me, the Virgo eclipse at the beginning of this month (a week ago now) was a lot. And I know many others were like me in this regard. I heard a number of people who quit their job. Having taken that step themselves, they were infused with possibility but also a kind of manic uncertainty. Others I heard had suddenly been fired. These, at least the ones I met, were distraught and feeling powerless as far as I could tell—though these moments of powerlessness force us to seek new means of empowerment. These people I met were embracing spiritual and metaphysical means of improvement, probably opening up sides of themselves that had been closed off at their “comfortable” jobs.
Everyone entered some kind of portal, and one friend described this as our upgrade as we’re stepping into a new era.
In what way or ways have you been upgrading? What habits or long-held attitudes have you been releasing?
This time reminds me of a previous post I wrote: You Can’t “Fix” Your Emotions. I might expand that and say, you can’t fix the chaos of a changing world. Often we have to just ride the wave and most importantly, follow the wave to the other side.
The problem with fixing our emotions or fixing our chaos is that often is what gets us stuck inside the wave, never to come out the other side. Escapism is one way we get stuck, resistance in any shape or form is another, and fixing too. It’s worth adding in this Pisces season that even prayer can be an unhealthy form of fixing if prayer keeps us from following the wave through.
There is a deeper form of prayer you could say than asking the powers above for help. It’s trusting that the powers above (and the powers below, within, and all around) are already doing their part. What you are feeling is those powers. How often do we ask for help or blame the Universe, our fate, etc., when it’s on us to change or on us to open up and allow the change to happen.
We don’t have to make the change happen; we just have to let it happen, and to let it happen it helps to know that change is always for us. It exists to help us, to empower, to make us better or healthier versions of ourselves.
I’ll admit that I struggled with the energies of this previous eclipse. For one, I had recently gone through an anxiety wave with the eclipse before that (which landed on my Sun), and I was not expecting another wave, an even more intense wave, so soon. It gave rise, I’ll admit, to some feelings of unfairness. This is too much. You must be wrong God. Is there some mixup that happened in heaven? Some clerical error? Because this can’t be right…
In hindsight, I’m so grateful for what I moved through but it took some moving, took some releasing also.
One reason I love astrology and why it’s so useful is because as we become familiar and attuned to the different flavors of energy, we can handle them more smoothly. I know what this is. It’s not exactly pleasant I know but I know how to make it through and how, when I make it through, I feel better, more capable, etc.
But that said: there are always new energies! Always things we haven’t experienced. That is the other fun of astrology.
Familiarity and change, ever in a dance together. The spice and fragrance and magic of life!
It ain’t always easy, but easy can be boring. So let’s be thankful for these waves and the waves to come, and let’s trust in our ability to navigate them well. Together, alone, in all the ways we have available.
Happy Pisces season. Happy winter’s ending. Exciting times are ahead. May we see the beauty in change and may we find greater capacity to be with change in whatever unexpected ways it likes to show up.
