Previously we talked about the precessional shift that is underway, not the shift from Pisces to Aquarius (though that is part of the flavor), more importantly the shift from Kali Yuga to a transitional age known as Ekpyrosis. I used Bibhu Dev Misra’s model as the primary model I follow for understanding the precessional cycle. However I do want to say that it is not only on blind faith that I follow this model.

For one, there are prophecies that have been passed down by many cultures that point directly to this time as being a time of great change. My favorite of all the prophecies, the richest, most beautiful and overall clearest prophecy is the Hopi Prophecy. I love this prophecy not only because it provides useful warnings but because it provides a beautiful picture of how life has developed and what we really need to know about the current time.

The Hopi Prophecy speaks of the ending of the “Fourth World” and the coming of the “Fifth World”. I did not explicitly think about this when naming this website, but this is what the website is all about. I encourage you to research the Hopi Prophecy if you are so inclined, but it’s not the purpose of this post to describe it. Suffice it to say that this prophecy does have certain markers that tell us we are in the time of change, of world-shaking and transformation.

In addition to the Hopi Prophecy, there are others. There is the Tui be tu, a Chinese book of prophecy. There is the Book of Revelation, which is much more obfuscated and hard-to-crack than the Hopi symbolism, but it too speaks to this time and gives pretty clear indications. Interestingly the scientist, Isaac Newton, published an interpretation of the Book of Revelation. He also used chronology (following statements about historical kings and how many generations were to pass) to give an estimated time for the key events in the Book of Revelation. His prediction was year 2060. (If you are looking into this I recommend reading his Untitled Treatise on Revelation, rather than his other titled treatise.)

Additionally there is the Human Design prophecy that calls out the year 2027 as a key turning point. I don’t really recommend this prophecy for clarity on what this time is all about. I think most people are scared by it more than they gain any kind of assurance. But my understanding is that it mostly talks about a shift from top-down leadership, control, and globalized economies, towards self-direction, autonomy, and local economies. (Though naturally the transition will contain certain difficult elements, to say the least.)

So we have all of these pieces of information. We have all this evidence. Many people may choose to ignore the evidence, but if these prophecies were not important, why would they have been passed down so diligently?

Prophecies and predictions do not take away from our free will. But free will is always going hand-in-hand with fate. These prophecies do not tell us how to live our lives. Only we can know and learn that. They just tell us some important warnings we should heed! If there is a snowstorm, you had better bring your coat! I wish this time was as simple as needing a coat, but it is also more interesting than that.

This time calls, above all, for spiritual alignment, with finding ourselves free of trauma, indoctrination, and conditioning. Free may not be the right word, but aware, accepting, and able to operate from our highest self, rather than our woundings and conditionings. This time is not about perfection. It is more about wholeness, accepting all of us, the good and the bad, pretty and ugly, strong and weak. It is about being independent while also working together. It is about finding flow even amongst hardship, limitation. Finding gratitude for All. It is about finding confidence and love that is based firmly in reality and experience.

One of the most profound shifts that is happening is our graduating let’s say from thousands of years of patriarchy. Many people, especially men, would get defensive at hearing this. But I assure you: patriarchy has been real, and it has not been good for anyone, male or female.

Part of waking up to this new era, where we cherish feminine values (and still cherish masculine values, though hopefully more balanced and healthy masculine values), is appreciating the different sides of ourselves, both masculine and feminine. And that is one way that astrology is so useful.

Just as a quick personal anecdote, my astrology journey involves different times where I become engrossed in one planetary archetype. One planet I am really feeling or is really on my mind or with me. It started with Saturn and it has jumped from planet to planet to planet, as well as to specific domains and teachings, etc. 

But my first realization of Venus, not only of what Venus is, but of “Wow I need to work on this.” or “Wow I need to own this.” was surprising. It was surprising because of how long it took me to come to this. All the while I had been thinking I understood all the planets, was in touch with the planets, but really I’d had this subconscious idea that these are the things I deal with and these are the things other people deal with (with all Venusian things being in that “other people” category).

Of course your mileage may vary. We all have the archetypes that come easily and the archetypes that come less easily (and even the ones that come easily need continuous growth). But I tell this just to illustrate how this Divine Feminine/Divine Masculine duality can be hidden or confused and surprising also. Generally speaking, I will say that men are men and women are women. (Again, that’s generally speaking.) But we all have a lot we can and must develop on both sides.

We need to throw all we know or think we know out the window, all that society has tried to teach us. It just won’t fly any more. And in addition to that, I can just say that life will be a heck of lot richer, fuller, and happier if we embrace all these sides of ourselves.

A Monumental Shift in Outer Planet Energy

Okay, so we’ve talked about all these prophecies which indicate we are at least in the ballpark of this Great Change. These are largely what give me confidence in the Yuga Cycle timeline, with 2025 being a key year. But in addition to all this, we have this major shift that is happening with the outer planets.

They have switched, all three of them, from water/earth to air/fire. Pluto is fully in Aquarius (air) now for 18+ years. Neptune and Uranus are in fire and air respectively, but have brief stints left in water and earth. (Neptune returns to Pisces in late October, and Uranus returns to Taurus in early November. Neptune will return to Aries for the long-haul—12+ years—in February, and Uranus will return to Gemini for the medium-haul—6+ years—in May.)

But what does this mean? Why is this shift important?

Earth/Water 🠆 Air/Fire

It is important to note that earth and water have something in common as do air and fire. Earth and water generally “get along”. They are introspective, patient, more past-feeling energies. Air and fire also generally “get along” or mutually invigorate each other. They are more activating, movement-oriented, forward-looking energies.

Think about air. It is the space between us, give-and-take. It is also the wind that moves and carries things, seeds, pollen, and sound. Fire, it is heating. It can be comforting but also igniting. It also helps to lift and move the air just as air feeds fire. All the elements work together, but with these outer planet shifts, think about us moving towards movement itself. Inspiration, activity, and also to a greater focus on tribe, community, and working towards truly alternative ways of living and sustaining.

Put simply, with this shift from earth/water to air/fire, the era of the 30 year mortgage or of working towards a pension supported by the government are over. The American dream is kaput. For a long time people have known that change is needed, but they’ve been too comfortable to do anything about it. They’ve been unwilling to relinquish their comforts.

Well now there is no choice. Change is the reality. Comfort is something we need to find when and where we can, not something we can rely on forever. Living through the internet will be replaced by more face-to-face interaction (which I’m sure is something we all yearn for, even if it means we need to get more comfortable with embodying ourselves).

The focus, generally-speaking, will be on ideals and inspiration and on mobilizing these, working together on these. 

I should add that with all the planets in air and fire, that means they are all harmonious with one another. We are empowered right now, and if we choose to embrace life, to follow what it asks of us or inspires us to, rather than what we think is right, then good things will come. We will live more vibrantly.

I would also add though that as Neptune and Uranus go back into water and earth in the upcoming months, we should really take advantage of that energy too. Even as someone with predominantly air and fire in my chart, I look at this upcoming time as “Woo that could be a little too much air and fire.” There is a brief moment in April 2027 where all the planets, including the nodes, will be in air and fire. Fortunately it is brief!

While air and fire are good at movement. They are not good at introspection, sitting still, and patience. But these are always needed! As Neptune and Uranus move back, we can really focus on healing and release and grounding. Also, just know that these planets will not stay forever in air and fire. What is noteworthy is just how all three of these shifts are happening right around the same time.
